SMPS Hawaii holds an event each month alternating between Lunch programs and casual Lunch+Learns. This year, our Lunch Programs and Lunch+Learns will be held via Zoom until we are able to reconvene with in-person events. We offer AIA Continuing Education credits for many of our events.

Representatives from Hawaii Pacific Health and The Queen's Medical Center - West Oahu will share information about upcoming A/E/C projects.

Warren Chaiko is a Senior Vice President at Hawai‘i Pacific Health (HPH), which includes Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children, Pali Momi Medical Center, Straub Medical Center, and Wilcox Medical Center. He has worked for HPH for 18 years and is responsible for the company’s system-wide design, construction, leasing, real estate, and facility master planning activities. Warren began his career in the construction industry as a laborer and carpenter apprentice at Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company during the summers while he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management from the University of Washington. While attending college, he also obtained his real estate salesperson's license.  Warren returned to Hawai‘i and obtained his general contractor's license, and worked for Hawai‘i Western Construction and CJS Group Architects. He also co-founded his own general contracting firm, Chaiko & Heath, Inc., and later became Vice President at Charles Pankow Builders before joining HPH. Warren currently serves on the American Red Cross, Pacific Islands Region and Cancer Center of Hawai‘i LLC boards.  He is a Punahou School graduate and is married with a 12-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son. 

Susan Murray currently serves as The Queen’s Health Systems Senior Vice President for the West O‘ahu Region and the Chief Operating Officer for The Queen’s Medical Center – West O‘ahu, overseeing operations and providing leadership in the growth and development of the 20-acre campus. She previously served as the Hawai‘i Regional Hospital Administrator and Regional Vice President for Quality, Safety, and Service for the Kaiser Permanente Foundation Health Plan and Hospital for 10 years. At Kaiser, she managed the company’s 285-bed hospital, which had an annual operating budget of $300 million and a staff of over 2,000 personnel. Susan is a Punahou School graduate and earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Hawai‘i and an MBA in health services from the University of Dallas. Her career in healthcare has included positions at the Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu; the Women’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and the Women’s Hospital of Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Susan is a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and was an honoree at the 2017 YWCA Leader Luncheon. In 2018, she was honored for her community outreach and partnership by Island Pacific Academy. She currently serves on the board of Island Pacific Academy, Hawaiian Island Ministries, and the Kapolei Chamber of Commerce. Susan also serves as a team member on First Presbyterian Church’s Personnel and Long Range Planning committees.

Paul Marx is the Chief Executive Officer of Paul W. Marx & Associates LLC, a business advisory services corporation that assists clients in the areas of strategy, board governance, organization, and fiscal management. Prior to starting his business in 2020, Paul served as Chief Executive Officer of Hawai‘i Benefit Administrators, Inc. (HBAI) for 25 years, providing trust fund and benefit administration for construction union healthcare and retirement plans. After retiring from HBAI, he assisted with the start-up of the AHED Foundation, a non-profit corporation organized for the preservation and development of affordable housing. Paul currently serves as Chairman for the State of Hawai‘i Employer Pre-Paid Health Care Advisory Council and Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children Foundation. He also serves as an Employer Engagement Committee Member on the State of Hawai‘i Work Force Development Council and past Chair and current Treasurer on Le Jardin Academy’s Board of Trustees.

**Cancellation/No-Show Policy:  If you are unable to attend, you may 1) transfer your ticket to another member of your firm or 2) notify SMPS Hawaii 48 hours prior to the event so we can refund you.  NO REFUNDS will be issued after the event has taken place.
